Quick Introduction
-
I'm Shikha Ajmera, a textile artist from Maharashtra who's passionate about bringing stories to life through hand-painted fabric designs.
I've had the incredible opportunity to showcase my work at some amazing platforms like the Art Bazaar at Red Fort, the Indian Art Architecture Design Biennale 2023, and Bharat Tex 2024. What drives me is blending our rich Indian heritage with contemporary touches - every brushstroke tells a story.
Some of my most memorable pieces include hand-painting Defense Minister Rajnath Singh ji's journey on a muffler and creating a special shawl celebrating Sachin Tendulkar's cricketing legacy. I was truly honored when Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar appreciated my work, and when director Nagraj Manjule launched my brand "Shikha's Kariigarii" during the "Jhund" screening in 2022.
For me, fabric isn't just material - it's a canvas where life stories unfold. Whether it's an elegant saree or a wall tapestry, I pour my heart into creating pieces that connect with people emotionally. In a world of mass production, I believe in the power of authentic craftsmanship that touches hearts and preserves our artistic heritage.
Every creation is my way of keeping traditional art alive while making it relevant for today's world.
